Crystal Vessel, Chinese Ding, Divine Dragon Cluster Ding
The vessel in ancient Chinese heritage (or “ding”) is a symbol and artistic leitmotif that has transgressed the ages and been passed down to present day. Inspired by this heritage, this piece, titled “Divine Dragon Cluster Ding,” uses tastefully placed bubbles with expertly placed color strings for a vibrant and captivating appearance. The stunning effect, with two clusters of Han Dynasty dragon pattern designs, is a vivid and colorful representation of heritage and tradition.
The dragon patterned handles are created through sculpture in the round. Two small dragons encircle the opening of the ding while the body is covered in motifs in relief. The beautiful motifs of ancient Chinese bronzes are revived through the Pate-de-verre technique in this design. The small scale increases the difficulty of the craft.
